See stuff like this makes me mad. b/c, w yt culture, he’s relating worth to knowledge and wealth. using passing and privileged scientists as examples is not the way to try ( also using yt, male, hetero, able, thin, class, & education privilege) and promote positive immigration reform. If most immigrants were educated yt/passing men ~~illegal~~ immigration would not be an issue today. The gov’t doesn’t have an issue w/ your Tesla’s and Pulitzer’s; it has issues w/ your Garcia’s and Mohammed’s. i mean ~~they give no fucks about~~ they have no interest in educating or caring for and/or about minority ppl, citizen or not, anyhow so…… (see: massive school closings in chicago, making students who can’t pay throw out their lunches, the entire state of arizona, current happenings with the dream act)

This is a dream that MUST be fulfilled. I am excited to watch you dream chase lovely. The speech is great. I think it is empowering. It acknowledges the current condition and provides an applicable solution. 3,999,386 babies are born a year to mothers in various stages of life. Each mom and baby deserve the best chance to have the best life <3 Providing a program that addresses this need has so many potential benefits for families, places of employment, and society at large (in my humble opinion).

The only critique I have is that while there are many benefits to breastfeeding, I believe that breastfeeding is not possible for all moms due to various circumstances so in addition to providing information and support in mothers who do breastfeed, a safe space should be provided for women who cannot or choose not to breastfeed.

My follow-up question if I were hearing this would be: how do you plan to offer these services and what will the services be and for how long? Will the program be just for the mom, or will the whole family be included?
